StarVirgo- Kuala Lumpur May 2012

It was my first cruise trip and I was a little apprehensive about it. Des went on a cruise couple of times and he always came back telling me how relaxed and fun it was. It was his so-called "hard-selling" methods, trying to convince me to join him on his next cruise trip using his points. But I thought otherwise, how fun can cruise be? I don't swim, I don't gamble. All I can do is just stay in the cabin which I presume will be rather small and claustrophobic. Des just told me I got to experience it once before I made a verdict.

So last Friday, I decided to give cruise a try. And all I can say, it was erm... fun. Yeah, a different kind of fun even though I did not do much there. It was just so relaxing and definitely a good holiday with family because you will have so much time to spend together. Meals together, exploration together, watching performance together and shopping together. Basically, there will be so much quality time together. In fact, I love the cruise so much that I thought the shopping excursion at KL was a waste of time and I would rather just spend the time in the cruise.

Check-in began at 4.30pm so Des and I went earlier to meet his parents, godma, Aunt Catherine and Uncle Michael at Harbourfront Cruise Centre.

Look at the difference between our luggage size! Des brought the big one for a three-day trip! OMG

Eagerly waiting... I almost couldn't make it for the trip as I had a really bad flu the day before. But I felt so much better the next day after using my DIY remedy which involved drinking lots of water, pee, take flu medicine and rest early. It works wonder, especially the drinking of water part.

On board Star Virgo and off we went to check out our cabin!

Initially we thought our cabin will be the smallest with no window kind. Surprisingly, we got a cozy nice room with a window! We could watch sunrise in the morning and in the afternoon, the mangroves of the Straits of Malaysia.

Happy us!

Very action! LOL

Then, we went to explore the rest of the cruise.
Me calling mum to tell about the room and views! LOL

Des got a little too excited and began asking me to take picture of everything in the cruise. Painting, er staircase ...

The upper deck...

Water slide which only the Indian kids played... Too scary I think...

"Look mum, I'm on a Virgo!"

Resort World Sentosa

One Degree 15 Marina
Cable cars!

Since the cruise departed only at 8pm, we went for dinner. It was Mediterranean buffet.

Food was ok. But I was prepared for the quality.

The swimming pool...

After dinner, we chilled at the upper deck. I think that has to be the best way to enjoy cruise. Just sit, chat, listen to the live band performance and enjoy the cool night breeze. My favourite activity of the entire trip!

The person who made this trip possible :)

Oh and also these people!

Spotted them chatting while waiting for casino to open! Bet you can tell who are Des's parents... LOL

The night did not end just like that. We returned to our cabin to watch tv, then we went for an acrobatic performance at the Lido theatre at 9pm. After that, it was the Miss Universe Bingo! Basically there were ladyboys trying to liven the atmosphere by cracking jokes and teasing the men in the audience. There was one ladyboy who asked where Des was going and you could see that he totally freaked out and walked damn fast away from him/her! So funny!

Next morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise.

The golden yolk! So beautiful...

After breakfast, it was shopping! We booked a tour to Bukit Bintang after docking at Port Klang. According to the description, Bukit Bintang is the shopping district of KL, equivalent of our Orchard Road where you can find many of the major shopping malls such as Pavilion, Lot 10, Bukit Bintang Plaza, Sungei Wang etc.

My buy...
That was all I took for KL because we only had three hours to shop. And I didn't want the pickpockets to prey on me while I was busy snapping away. Anyway, the shopping was terrible. Besides basic necessities, there was nothing fantastic to shop for. The fashion scene in KL is slower than ours. So you either get out-dated clothes or really expensive ones from the international brands in Malaysia.

Back to the cruise to rest... and watch the sunset...

Thanks to Des and his parents for this all expenses paid holiday! Really enjoyed myself and changed my perception of cruise! I look forward to the next cruise trip with not just them, but also with my family! :)
