I Eat I Shop @ Bangkok

I know I know. This post shouldn't take so long. But I just can't help it.

I am just not motivated to upload my pictures as there weren't many pictures taken in the first place. Secondly, the pictures taken were mostly of food and the stuff (oops! only some of the stuff) I bought. Even my Kuantan trip had more pictures than this lor!

And do you know the reasons why I decided not to take pictures of the places I went to? Blame it on Bangkok and Hangover Part 2.

Stupid me decided to watch the disgusting movie the weekend before my trip and guess what? They protrayed Bangkok as a sleazy and dangerous country. It made it look like if you are not careful enough, you may get shot or chopped to death. So scary! It was also my first trip with my mum and I was also afraid that we may get separated if I spent time taking pictures while my mum has the high possibility of leaving me behind :(.

Oh, and needless to say, I want to shop. Most of the places we went to were shopping mall so I don't think I need to take any pictures lo.

Let me just share on my overall experience at Bangkok. I think comunication wise, it is still quite alright. Some of them do understand English. Others do but act like they don't so that you will end up giving them more money?

I love Thai food! Simply delicious and cheap! You will got to see more about that later.

I love how cheap the transport is and how easy it is to take taxi. It will be kind of pointless for tourists to take BTS (like MRT) unless you want to avoid traffic jam which is the thing I hate most about Bangkok.

I love some of their shopping malls and I was amazed by their standard. I think they are so much better than Malaysia's!

Day/Night markets were fun to shop but must be extremely careful as they were usually found lining the road and you must constantly check to make sure you are still alive or your toes are not run over by the wheels of the cars! LOL

Speaking of which, the Thai drivers are really skilful and fast! They know the shortcuts and could squeeze their cars through narrow alleys without getting their cars scratched!

Similarly for tourists, you got to be smart too. I was happy that my random walking led Mum to a shopping mall that sells her clothes. You can imagine how excited she was when she found big-sized pretty tops for herself.

Enough talking, enjoy the food galore below!

Chicken rice upon landing at Bangkok staff canteen (Very cheap! Less than S$2 and comes with a pig blood)
Of cos, Singapore's is nicer. They even prepared so many types of chili sauce for you to choose. Oh and the Thais are thoughtful in the way that they prepared hot water for you to sterilise your utensils before using.

Handmade thai fishcakes from a roadside stall near our hotel (sorry for the lousy photography haha)

Oh n have you tried this fruit before? It is like a mix between guava and apple and is quite sweet. You can get it in Singapore too but only some pasar malam stalls will sell it.

Did I mention that the fruits in Bangkok are so cheap? I get to eat fruits almost everyday! I mean TROPICAL fruits lol.

Dinner at MBK food court

Seafood Pah thai
Quite disappointed because they fried it with tomato and it tasted more sweet than savoury. But the seafood were fresh.
I realised Thais are generous with their vegetable, especially for beansprouts and spring onions. They will leave these raw vegetables on the table and you can take as many as you want. Personally, I hate raw beansprouts!

Mine: Thai basil pork (yummy! goes really well with rice)

Tom Yum Goong from a roadside stall near my hotel (super big bowl and lots of oyster mushrooms in it)

oh and how can we forget bird nest from Chinatown?

ordered one bowl to share n mum din even share with me! she just gulped it down like that!

And also......

the best sharkfin i ever had! the broth was so rich and definitely worth it as it came with lots of ingredients.
i think it cost ard S$20.

you know I am so sua-gu. In Singapore, we usually eat shark fin that has more corn flour starch, eggs and crab meat than the actual shark fin itself right! As a result, I felt uncomfortable having to chew and bite the big pieces of fins.

Went to Central World Plaza, a megamall with many dining options for lunch and shopping
We ended up at a Cantonese restaurant.

Roast platter consisting of roast meat (crispy skin), char siew and a jelly-like thing
Surprising good!

Fried bittergourd with fish fillets in fermented black bean sauce! YUmmy!

Seafood Hor Fun (average)

Harajuku Crepe for tea

Fishball noodles at Siam Square (looked more like Yong tau foo)
The noodles are the same as egg noodles just that it does not contain egg.

Wanton noodles with fresh prawns in it

one of my aims for this trip was to find this! they are not sweets but rather desserts made from green bean paste! so cute that I couldn't bear to eat them.

My other aim: sticky rice with mango

Tapao-ed dinner from the food court of Siam Paragon. This had to be our favourite meal. The pork were so tasty!!!! Now I'm really hungry!!!!!!!!!
This is Fried Pork Rice (the fattest part of the pork lol)

Mum chose the pig trotter rice which the lady thoughtfully removed the meat from the bones for her. So nice right? This tasted even better than my fried pork rice lo!

Something funny to share:
The lady wanted to ask mum if she wanted to add large intestines. Mum couldn't understand her in Thai so the lady kept saying the word "SAI, SAI, SAI". Right away, mum nodded.

Who said she will be lost in translation! LOL

Last day's lunch: Fried noodle from MBK

Oyster Omelete!!!!!

I know I have shared this with many people but I still must say! I don't know how to eat oysters because I don't like the iron taste when the oyster burst in my mouth BUT these oysters seen here were different! They were raw and SUPER SWEET OK! Raw oysters without any iron taste but tasted sweet! How can it be true! Anyway, I finished all of them! LOL

Alright, that's basically all I wanna share about the trip. To view more pictures, you can go to my FB. :)

School's starting in less than a day's time

Yes, this is going to be bored for you guys. Here I am, ranting about how school is starting soon and how I do not look forward to it.

I realised since the beginning of this year, there had been many breaks and they were pretty short. Sometimes, there wasn't any break at all before I had to move on from one thing to another.

See, just when I am finally comfortable with my holiday, WHAT, school reopens tomorrow?!

What can I do but just take it as it is. The only consolation is that I will just be supporting another teacher in the next term and hopefully, I will not have much to do.

Anyway, the investiture ceremony is in two weeks' time and I am kind of looking forward to it. This time round, it matters more to me :).

Karaoke on Father's Day with the relatives

So, it all happened when bro brought up the idea of singing karaoke at his company's clubhouse (that's at Changi Airport). According to him, the karaoke room is pretty big and spacious which means it can accomodate our extended family, which consists of about 20 people. They have the latest songs and the hourly room charge is affordable too.

As a result, my mum invited all my relatives and the day was fixed on last Sunday, coincidentally Father's Day!

Shall let the pictures do the talking...
