My First Teacher's Day Gift

So next Wednesday is going to be Teacher's Day. Every teacher in this country is going to celebrate the day with performances, annual dinner and presents of appreciation from their beloved students. As for us trainees, we will celebrate the day by attending lectures and a super long journey!

Anyway, I met up with dear Siying last Wednesday and she told me she had something for me. Knowing that Sy is ever so thoughtful (she loves to make cards for her friends), I thought she was going to give me a card. But boy I was only half right! She gave me a wrapped gift and when I opened it, this is what she gave me. :)

My First Teacher's Day Gift: A Teacher's Report Book!

So sweet! Thanks so much SY!

Minnie, Here I come!

Although there are some unhappy things that happened a few days ago, I must really thank god or Guan Yin Niang Niang for the happy things that took place around me. They really helped to compensate for those shortcomings or unhappiness in my life. :)

Now, let me tell you what the happier things were or are.

  1. I watched Grown Ups by Adam Sandler and it was a hilarious movie! I couldn't stop laughing despite knowing how lame the storyline was. Highly recommended for a light weekend!
  2. I had my first driving lesson today and it was so fun! I was glad that I can pick up the skill quite fast and I can't wait for the next lesson to come. The instructor is nice and his car is new too. The driving rate was acceptable too! Thank G or GYNN again!
  3. This has to be the happiest and most excited news I'm going to break! Are you ready? I'm going to HK in December!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has got to be my biggest dream! I always hope that I can celebrate my 21st birthday at Disneyland, the place where I can relive my childhood dream but sadly, I couldn't do that last year due to low budget. Then I saw Xiaxue's blog post on her trip to Disneyland last year and I was speechless. The year-end decoration and weather condition just made me want to go there even more! And so, to fulfill my birthday wish, I am going this year instead and guess what? I am going to HK on the last week of December! With Christmas just passed and the welcoming of a new year, I bet this holiday will be even more looked forward to! Being the kanjiong me, I have even started planning my itinerary!

Well, I just read my brother's blog and I finally realised his only talent (unless you count being chao gain as one too lol) after so many years of being his sister. His photo-taking skill is quite good. Or maybe the camera or film is good. Click on the link to my brother's blog on the sidebar if you want to see the artistic pics he took during his Surabaya trip!

What I have been up too lately...

So with the semestral break starting early, I have been working hard to earn some bucks. It's all due to my father's CDs that make me check my email every few hours and the poor me hasn't been sleeping very well as I am not sure if Father will be happy with me selling some many of his prized possessions.

It all started out with this guy from Dubai who emailed me and inquire about some CDs that I have posted on my other blog. I have actively publicised the blog in a Hifi forum and hoping that those fanatics will be interested in my father's collection. Well, I should say they are definitely eye-ing his CDs. Afterall, there were a few buyers who commented that Father knew his music well and he had great taste. So, I spent the past few months, categorizing the CDs into different prices and selling them at lower prices than their original prices (Father was smart as he had written down the original price and date of purchase on the back of every CD, maybe he knew that I will sell them one day!). This Dubai guy has been ordering a lot of CDs so far and he did not really ask for any discount which is a good thing. Hopefully, the sale will be successful when he comes to Singapore this weekend to collect from me.

On the other note, I was really afraid that Father will be angry with me for selling his collection. I really have no choice as Mum said the CDs have been left idle for too long and the boxes are taking too much space. So, this morning and I decided to pray to Father and asked him for is permission by throwing two coins. Guess what? He agreed to the sale. Please don't call me superstitious. You will know why I did that if you hear my story.

OH AND BEFORE I FORGET, I REALLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYY WANT TO GO FOR A HOLIDAY!!!!!! ANYWHERE ALSO FINE!!!

National Day!

So here's some pics taken during the last day of school or National Day. We were all dressed in red! Looking back at all the pictures that I had taken, the kids were so adorable! Miss them and I hope they will enjoy school as much as I want them to!

This is my lovely friends who helped me pull through that horrendous five weeks. We always gossiped and joked in the staff room.

Sadness

So, yesterday marked the end of my Teaching Assistantship at KWS and it was also a day of celebration of our country's birthday. Everyone was dressed in red and all trainees were super happy because it just means that we do not need to do anymore lesson plans! For me, I was grateful to have a bunch of lovely kids but disappointed that my CT was a lousy one. I felt like I was freeloaded when I talked to the other trainees and listened to how their CTs had helped them do this do that. As for me, I was the one who helped her do this do that and yet she didn't even set a good example to the pupils.

For eg, first impression makes difference. How you treat me, the pupils will take into account. I still remember the first day of school, I was asked to stand at the back of the class while the rest of the pupils greeted me from there. Not very polite, don't you think? After that, I was not being greeted at all in subsequent lessons as I was asked to slowly walked to the back of the classroom. Whereas when I was in the P4 class, the treatment was totally different.

Even up to the last day of school, I was so stressed out by the amount of work she gave me. Reliefing her lessons, do two compositions and having to mark them, create a fraction test, and more. It even sadder when she did not even teach her class to thank me for my effort by making a card or something for me (where even my Mother Tongue trainee friends have received something from the pupils because their CT reminded the class about our last day of work). She only let them know on Thursday where I brought sweets for them.

Instead of telling the class to thank me for planning wonderful lessons for them, she said, "Once you are ready, sit up straight and Miss Wong has something to tell you." What do I have to say? I felt so degraded cos in the end I still have to find words to thank them for giving me the opportunity to teach them blah blah blah and then gave them sweets. Luckily, the children thanked me for those sweets. I can't blame the children but it's the 大人不会做人.

I'm super grateful for the sweet lil girl who gave me a pack of gummies later on and told me that she wanted to thank me. I sat in silence in the staff room, rushing my marking tasks while my friends were telling me how cute their students were to make silly cards, give them red pens, I felt like a total loser who was not appreciated.

Nevertheless, I learnt from such mistakes and I promise that if I ever have my form class next year, I shall not repeat them again.

PS: MY CT IS A WEIRDO WHO DOES NOT LIKE TO BE COMPARED WITH ME.
